Two Day Summer Adventure Elopement in Glacier National Park

Elaine & Nathan’s two-day summer adventure elopement  was filled with thoughtful personal touches and made for some beautiful Glacier National Park Photography.

While Elaine & Nathan originally planned to have a two-day elopement shared with family and friends, they wound up having a small ceremony at home before flying to Glacier National Park for their honeymoon. They’d never been to Glacier before, and they were just super excited to spend time together exploring this epic national park, from lakes and mountains, to woods and waterfalls. They swapped between wedding clothes and hiking gear like absolute pros and added plenty of personal touches to make their Adventurous Montana Wedding everything they dreamed it would be.

Adventurous Montana Wedding

It’s no secret that Montana is filled with natural beauty and Glacier National Park, found in the Montana Rocky Mountains, is one of my absolute favorite spots. There is just so much beautiful wilderness to explore, which makes it an epic spot for an adventurous elopement. Elaine & Nathan had two days to explore Glacier with me, so we decided to spend one morning there, making the most of sunrise, and the next afternoon there, to take in the best of the sunset light. Glacier even has a namesake international airport, located about 30 miles from Glacier’s West Entrance, so it’s easy to arriveand get straight to exploring!

Their elopement was Elaine & Nathan’s first-time visiting Glacier, so it was super exciting to have two days to share some of the very best hikes and my favorite spots with them. On the first day of their elopement, we explored all along Going-to-the-Sun Road, from St. Mary Lake to the Avalanche Lake Trail. They were able to change out of their wedding clothes so that they were comfortable for the hikes, and still get some epic wedding portraits along the way at each location. One of my favorite things about capturing Glacier Elopement Photography is that I’m able to share so many beautiful spots with you all – even when that means just pulling off the road whenever we see an epic view. There’s one spot in Glacier where it looks like you’d need to hike for miles to get there, but actually it’s just this sweet little pull-off that’s surrounded by mountains!

Including Personal Touches in your Adventure Elopement

Elaine & Nathan ended up choosing to have a small legal ceremony surrounded by family & friends at home, but that didn’t stop them from making their two-day elopement super special. They had handwritten vows to share, which they did at sunrise looking out over St. Mary Lake. They’d also prepared a beautiful charcuterie picnic, with a cutting board shaped like Montana, to share together at their last hike of the first day. Elaine had brought a bottle of wine, that had been described as “being like your elegant handsome man”, and they did a bible study together while they enjoyed their picnic by Avalanche Lake.

I loved the way they incorporated all these personal touches into their day. It’s a beautiful example of making your elopement day special to you, sharing gestures and traditions that are important to you, and letting everything else go.

Stay tuned for Day Two of Elaine & Nathan’s elopement!
