Jen + Matt’s intimate elopement at Olympic National Park in Washington was one of the most special days I was a part of this year. Something about a rainy day with the beautiful scenery the PNW offers of ferns, moss and rocky beaches creates a magical feeling.

This was an intimate day with just Jen + Matt, as well as their sweet baby boy and Jen’s sister as the officiant. It was a rainy September day, and we met up at the visitors center so that they could change into their wedding outfits in the beautiful bridal sweets that national parks provide - yep, that’s right, the bathroom!

Meanwhile, Matt and I scouted out the exact spot that they wanted to have their ceremony on the trail that we’d picked out. He stayed at the spot, Jen wrapped up getting her dress on, and I led Jen and her sister to Matt on the trail! They had the sweetest first look, and then we began their ceremony.

Again, something about rain makes everything more magical and romantic but especially on this day, surrounded by a massive rainforest and mossy limbs that were all sparkling with dew drops. Jen + Matt wrote their own vows, and were quickly officially married! We took a few portraits in and around their ceremony spot because it was SO gorgeous! And then headed to the coast, down the road about 45 minutes!

We ran behind on time a bit so we didn’t have as much time as we were anticipating on the coast, but we made the best of it for sure! When we walked onto the beach, we were greeted with the incredible reflection shot you’ll see below. BLEW MY MIND. The PNW is really just one of the most beautiful places in the world. We explored the beach a little bit, got a good diversity of images, and shot until we couldn’t shoot any longer!

Rain, clouds, ferns, moss and all, this day was something special and I was so thrilled to be a part of it. If you’re considering eloping in Olympic National Park of any of the PNW’s gorgeous spots, get in touch below and let’s start putting your dream day together!
