Sandra & Chris’ Intimate Montana Wedding Photography plans, including Adventure Wedding Portraits at Glacier, were nearly thrown off by inclement weather. Their relaxed attitude meant we were still able to have a truly incredible time, and explore Glacier just like they’d planned!

What can I say about Sandra & Chris’ beautiful, Intimate Montana Wedding Photography except – what an absolute whirlwind! At 10pm on the night before their elopement we found ourselves on the phone trying to come up with a new game plan. We were supposed to start the day with sunrise Adventure Wedding Portraits at Glacier, but the weather said otherwise. It was stormy and overcast, so I knew the trail they’d chosen would be all fog and no views. Thankfully, Sandra & Chris were more than happy to roll with the punches. So, we postponed their Glacier portraits until the next day, and started their wedding celebrations with a beautiful, intimate ceremony alongside their family & friends who’d flown all the way from Florida!

Wedding Ceremony Spots near Glacier National Park

You just need to take a quick look at my blog to see I personally am a huge fan of Glacier National Park! It’s got endless beautiful views, mountain trails and stunning lakes. But, if you’re planning an intimate wedding with a few close family and friends, finding a wild ceremony spot can be hard. A lot of Glacier National Park’s official wedding ceremony locations are amphitheaters or pavilion-style locations, that don’t always capture the park’s incredible natural surroundings.

Sandra & Chris had their heart set on a Glacier National Park wedding though, surrounded by nature. Because I spend quite a bit of time hiking in National Parks just for myself, I remembered a beautiful spot I’d stumbled upon about a year before. The location, which is reached by an easy 1-2-mile hike and located just outside the park’s boundaries, made for a perfect ceremony spot. Because this spot isn’t actually within the park, it meant Sandra & Chris could have their dream ceremony, surrounded by both nature and their loved ones.

Sandra & Chris’ Intimate Montana Wedding Photography was special for so many reasons. Sandra’s brother officiated their ceremony, and there was barely a dry eye in the house by the end of it. Watching the way their loved ones alternated between hearty laughter and tears of joy was really moving to witness and be a part of. Plus, their family & friends had all flown in from Miami for the wedding. Safe to say, they’re not used to mountain landscapes, so their reactions to Glacier’s different kind of nature were really fun to see!

Having an intimate wedding meant that Sandra & Chris were able to make time for themselves, as well as all of their guests. They definitely didn’t let traditional ideas of what a wedding should be stand in their way! The hike into their ceremony location was filled with laughter and joy, as everyone formed a line on the narrow path. Then, after their ceremony, they headed off all together to go white water rafting (yes really!).

Adventure Wedding Portraits at Glacier National Park

The next morning, we woke up well before the sun to make the most of Sandra & Chris’ Adventure Wedding Portraits at Glacier National Park. We wanted to beat the traffic, seeing as it’s a one-way road, and we were rewarded with the most spectacular alpenglow. We stopped at a few different places along the way, including some of my favorite spots like St Mary’s Lake and a secret stop along the road. This little spot is incredible because it feels and looks like you’re deep in the mountains, but actually it’s just a short walk from the Going-to-the-Sun Road (in case you didn’t know, yes that really is the name of the one road that runs through Glacier!). It was a beautiful way to wrap up their Adventure Wedding Portraits at Glacier, and I’m so grateful that Sandra & Chris trusted me not only to photograph their intimate wedding, but to guide them through Glacier as well.
