Pacific Northwest Elopement Photography from Stormie & Tony’s spectacular December elopement. Their Natural Bridges Viewpoint Elopement had everything one could hope for from an intimate PNW wedding.

In a year of epic elopements, last minute changes, and general pandemonium, it was fitting that we finished the year with Stormie & Tony’s beautiful Pacific Northwest elopement… that of course, was never intended to happen in the Pacific Northwest! After exploring a few different options, Stormie & Tony had settled on an Isle of Skye elopement at the end of March 2020. The Isle of Skye is one of my favorite places and this sweet couple loved the idea of getting married somewhere they’d never been before. Everything was booked but of course, March 2020 being what it was, we had to cancel just before we were due to depart.

The last-minute cancellation was stressful for everyone – especially because we didn’t know when borders would reopen. Stormie & Tony took it in their stride though and chose to have a December wedding somewhere where they could simulate those beautiful misty Scottish vibes. And that is how they came to plan an Adventure Elopement in the Pacific Northwest in December!

If you’re after moody, rainy vibes, there is nothing quite like the Pacific Northwest. Most people would say you’re crazy for choosing to get married along the South Oregon coast in December, but as well as constant drizzle, it’s home to plenty of lush greenery which Scotland is also famous for. Not to mention that, regardless of the weather, the scenery up and down the Oregon coastline is absolutely breathtaking. From the dizzying heights of the forests to the magic of the endless waterfalls, the stunning craggy coastline to the wide-open sand beaches, there is a little something for everyone. If you choose to get married here, you’ll not only be sure to have beautiful Pacific Northwest Elopement Photography to remember your day by, but you’ll be guaranteed a truly unique experience.

Stormie & Tony specifically chose to celebrate most of their elopement day in the Samuel Boardman State Scenic Corridor. This area, along Highway 101 on the South Oregon Coast, offers some of the scenery the PNW is most famous for, including some truly dramatic offshore rock formations. The Natural Bridges Viewpoint is one of these spots, and it was our first stop on Stormie & Tony’s elopement day – after a few photos by the beach with their gorgeous four (yes, 4!) dogs. It’s a relatively easy hike, and in December, it’s not hard to have the space to yourself. It felt truly magical to be surrounded by this otherworldly landscape and the overcast weather made for the most beautiful, soft light.

Make the Most of the PNW Cost: Redwoods, Beaches and More

Of course, we couldn’t just stick to one spot though. There is so much to explore in this small area, and so it’s super easy to jump in the car and make the most of the beautiful surrounds. For Stormie & Tony’s ceremony, we headed a little further south, just over the California border and into a grove of redwoods for their ceremony. Stormie’s Mom had set up some truly beautiful details, and the intimate ceremony was made even more beautiful as Stormie’s stepdad officiated while their Moms and a few close family members watched on.

After their ceremony, which included a little beer picnic with beers from their friend’s brewery, we drove to the coast to visit one of my favorite spots. I found this beach when I was just out of college in 2016 and on a road trip. I recommended it to Stormie & Tony because it was one of the most amazing sunsets that I’d ever seen, and it didn’t disappoint. They had a champagne picnic on the beach with a rug and some macarons, and just enjoyed the sunset together. They couldn’t stop laughing and we stayed out shooting until we couldn’t anymore. It wasn’t just the sunset that was amazing, but even the blue tones of blue hour were really, really pretty. There was an incredible reflection in the water, and we were pretty much alone on the beach. It was the perfect way to wrap up Stormie & Tony’s Pacific Northwest Elopement Photography, and a spectacular final elopement for 2020.
