Melissa and Jesse’s elopement day in Maine was such a special day, for so many reasons! They had an intimate elopement with just their families present for their ceremony at Little Hunters Beach at Acadia National Park

It was pretty rainy the whole week of their elopement. We were watching the weather but between everyones schedules, there wasn’t much wiggle room for moving the day around, so we had to just embrace the rain!

I met up with Jesse + Melissa at Little Hunters Beach for a few portraits before their family arrived for their ceremony. At this point it was raining, but Melissa just embraced the rain like the adventure bride she was and ran around the beach with Jesse in the rain!

Their family arrived for the ceremony, and just like clockwork, the rain stopped! After their sweet ceremony, we headed to Jordan Pond for a few portraits. We were lucky enough to get some really low clouds + fog that really played with the landscape.

After Jordan Pond we headed up to Cadillac Mountain for sunset, but were met with a massive wall of fog. Not really adding to the landscape at this point, so we decided to head  to a different spot for a few more portraits and then head up back to Cadillac at the very end to see if any of the fog would burn off.

We explored some of the lower regions of Park Loop road, and got some really vibrant colors from storm clouds which was definitely worth the detour, but then headed back up to Cadillac to see if anything had changed! Sure enough, the clouds + fog parted and we witnesses the most INTENSE sunset. Honestly one of the most vibrant + colorful sunsets I’ve ever seen.

We all were freaking out and doing a little happy dance in disbelief that this was ACTUALLY happening in front of our eyes when we’d just been met with a wall of fog 30 minutes prior!

Melissa + Jesse were a beautiful example of embracing all of the roadblocks that an elopement day can sometimes offer. When you’re experiencing the outdoors, so much is out of your control, it’s way more fun to choose to embrace it (and maybe get some epic storm clouds, fog + sunsets!) and literally dance in the rain!
