Yosemite National Park Couples Session at Taft Point + Yosemite Valley
One of my favorite things about my job is showing people a place I love so much and watching them experience it for the first time. Alicia and JP reached out to me about shooting a couples session for them in Yosemite National Park and it just so happened that I was going to be in Yosemite to photograph elopements at the same time as they were planning their trip, so it worked out perfectly!
They had never been to the park before but Alicia knew she wanted some photos in front of El Capitan, and above El Capitan - so to Taft Point + Yosemite Valley we went! We started in the valley, and it was so fun to watch them marvel over how incredible El Capitan is. Every time I see it, I feel the same way they did. It’s just so massive, so vertical and slightly unbelievable even though you’re standing there seeing it with your own eyes!
After some time in Yosemite Valley, we made the drive up to Taft Point. We hiked in, and as they approached the cliffside and looked over the entire valley they had just been standing in, they had the same faces of wonder. It’s pretty cool to see Yosemite from above, especially when you were just standing at the bottom of it!
We stayed up at Taft Point up until the sun went down, and hiked back down when it just got too dark to shoot. Yosemite National Park is truly a treasure and I love that these two got to experience it, and have photos of their first time there. I hope these photos help them remember how great their trip was and how beautiful this park is that it encourages them to visit it again and again, and continue their love of travel with each other!
